In the Korean age system, you are 1 year old at birth and gain a year each January 1st. So a baby born on December 31st would be 2 years old the next day. Note: South Korea officially adopted the international age system in June 2023, but Korean age remains common in everyday conversation.
The "half your age plus 7" rule is an informal guideline for the socially acceptable minimum age of a romantic partner. You divide the older person's age by 2, then add 7. For example, a 30-year-old should date someone at least 22 (30÷2+7=22).
